Are you an enabler?

Hey guys,

As you know if you've ever read my blog or had a natter with me on Twitter I'm on a weightloss journey.

I'm feeling really good at the moment. I've had a few blah moments but mostly I'm in a positive mood.

Now diet and healthy eating aside as a greedy chick I'm just as susceptible to a tasty treat as the next person (if not more so) but life isn't as easy as only taking one piece for me and before you know it I've gobbled down a family sized bar of cadburys before you've finished one square!

On a few recent outings I've been majorly tempted by others and I'll admit I've caved a few times! FYI I don't recommend eating bread after two months of being on low carb! It wasn't pretty!

The thing is a lot of the time you'll be with friends who'll give you the old 'go on, a small piece won't hurt' or 'you're doing so well, you deserve a treat' to my favourite 'just do some extra exercise' these simple little sentences can really mess with a fat chicks head.

Before you know it visions of tucking into a slice of freshly made carrot cake bombard you and somehow your uber healthy salad becomes dust in your mouth.

So my question is: are you guilty of enabling?

No matter how good intended it is we are all guilty of tempting others. Not only with food but anything and everything. Just remember the chubby peeps trying to change and maybe suggest the fruit platter ;)

Until next time....keep smiling :)

Freedom Makeup Black Arts Palette

Hello lovelies,

You know that feeling you get as you browse an online shop and see a really affordable product? You think ooh that's cheap I'll buy that yet at the same time you have this feeling it'll befit the price you paid?

Well fear not my friends! I have a palette today that is not only cheap as chips but is absolutely fantastic!

I'm talking about the Freedom Makeup Black Arts palette! You can read my haul post here and watch my haul video here.

Packaging is very iPad-esque with the shadows set in a plastic case with a leather lid to cover them and an elastic band to keep the lid in place.

This bad boy palette comes with 48 shadows with shades ranging from pale colours (white, cream), to neutrals (various taupe & brown) and deeper shades (black, blue, rust red) to add drama. The added bonus of having a mix of finishes (matte, shimmer, metallic) makes this palette a great allrounder.

The pigmentation is amazing, the colours are versatile and most of the shadows blend like a dream. As with all things some work better than others. The blue in the below swatch was disappointing but don't let that put you off trying this palette!

I did this look using the palette. You can see my tutorial here :)

What do you think of this palette?

Much Love,

Film Friday: My feel good movies...

Hey guys,

We've all had those days where we wish we could hide under the covers and only come out for cake and coffee. Unfortunately I'm not having much cake lately ;)

So I thought I'd share my favourite films. Those movies that I can watch over and over again with no hint of boredom. These are my feel good films and watching them brings me back to my happy place :)

Monster in Law

Staring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda this is a comedy about an over possessive mother who thinks Charlie (J-Lo) isn't good enough for her son so becomes the mother in law from hell.
Prepare for fun and games when these two feisty characters go head to head in the game of love.
I love J-Lo in this and this film is bright, funny and the lead guy is hot so that's a bonus. Lol.
I love watching this when I need a giggle :)

Because I said so

Starring Mandy Moore & Diane Keaton this is a film where sometimes mother doesn't know best!
Worried her daughter won't find love, Daphne (Diane Keaton) writes a personal ad to 'date her daughter' in the hopes of finding Millie (Mandy Moore) the perfect man.
Get ready for a crazy ride in the world of dating, love and completely different guys!
This film is a lovely rom com but mostly it's about a mother/daughter bond that can't be broken even after some bad decisions, that sometimes what seems wrong is actually right and learning to cut the apron strings.

Finally I had to include Disney's Hercules! What don't I love about this film?!
I love the characters, even bad boy Hades and the actors were very well chosen for each character.
Disney takes you on an adventure into Greek mythology with a funny, light hearted film that imo kids and adults will all enjoy! I'm 29 sooo I count as an adult. Right?! Haha.
I love it that much I even bought the song 'Go the distance' lol

So that's some of my favourite 'feel good' films! I hope you enjoyed this post and if you haven't watched them I urge you to give them a try!

What's your feel good film?

Weightloss and Feeling pretty!

Hello lovelies,

How are we all?! Life has been so busy lately! I'm looking forward to getting a few family commitments out of the way then I can get stuck into blogging again and make more videos for my YouTube channel!

I'm still going strong on the diet. I've lost a massive 20lb in four weeks! Super chuffed about that and I got some great advice from Nicola at who suggested adding some carbs like sweet potato or rice to my diet as it'll give me energy plus help with recovery after exercise and it's helped a lot! :)

I've been working hard on being mentally positive as well. It's hard at times especially when PMS kicks in but I can honestly say it's having such a good effect on my interaction with others and how I see myself.

I had a mini emotional moment a few weeks ago. I did a makeup look featuring a blue lip (click to watch) and put up a 'selfie' on Instagram (see below) and it got over 100 likes!

Now not to be all 'look at me I'm fabulous' but not only did a picture hit 3 digits which is a first for me but it was my face! I can't tell you how shocked yet amazed that made me feel.

my instagram selfie which got a lot of likes

I've never been confident with how I look so to see something as simple as likes on social media was such a boost! :D

Anyway that's my little update. Hope you're all well and let's smash the next few weeks!

Much Love,
