Caribou Cosmetic Brushes

Hi guys,

How are you? Did you have a good weekend? We celebrated my mum's birthday but that's a story for another post (fyi I was naughty :o)

Today I wanted to share with you some fabulous brushes I've found and for the last month I have been putting them to the test! :D
I was followed by this brand on Twitter so being the inquisitive girl I am, off I went to check out the website and I'm glad I did!

Guys, I give you the beautiful Caribou Cosmectic Brushes! :D

They come beautifully presented in a faux leather pouch that has the name imprinted on as well and it came with a note which I thought was a lovely touch. It says on the other side to look after and love your new Caribou brushes.

I bought the Longest Lasting Brush Collection which is a 12 piece set and has everything from face, powder and blush brushes to eyeshadow, brows and lips.

So what do you get?

Duel Fibre (DF) Blusher Brush
DF Powder Brush
DF Precision Contour
Foundation Brush

Spoolie/Lash Brush
DF Eye Blending Brush
Lip Brush
DF All Over Eye Brush
DF Angled Brow Brush
DF Concealer Brush
Eye Liner
Bullet Tip Smudger

These brushes are beautiful. The detailing on the handle to the soft bristles that create your facial masterpiece and with these being dual fibre you can use them with creams, liquids and powders.

Due to having eczema on my hands I rely mostly on brushes and sponges to apply my make up. One because getting product in a cut stings like a bitch! Two my skin is left rough even with moisturiser so it catches on my face if I use my fingers. Woe is me. Haha

Anyway moving on from my tale of doom. Lol. I love these brushes! Whilst I prefer to use my denser blush and contour brushes, the Caribou ones are great to blend out product.

My favourites are the eye blending brush! It's soft yet has a tapered round end which is perfect for packing on colour yet you can still focus in the crease!
The powder brush is great to sweep the whole face and is soft so it doesn't irritate. Enough said ;)
Not to mention the liner brushes *hands up to precision lines*

Finally these brushes come with a whopping 3 years guarantee!! 3 years!! That's amazing for a company to offer such great peace of mind.

Want to try these bad boys? Then check out cariboucosmetics.co.uk  Oh and the best part? It only costs £29 for this 12 piece brush set! Not only are you getting quality brushes but so affordable right now as well!

Another bonus! For every brush sold Caribou Cosmetics plant 5 trees! Look beautiful and help save the environment with these beauties :)

Have you tried this brand yet? Let me know what you think.

Much Love,

Bex x

Blackhead Killers

Hi guys,

Today I'm talking face packs. Specifically Blackhead Killer by stylelux which is a company founded in Denmark.

A few months back stylelux got in touch, asking if I'd like to try their highly acclaimed Blackhead Killer. Erm hell yes. Who's with me on how annoying those lil beasts are? I mean everytime I read those cliché romances saying the heroine 'had such a clear complextion' I want to roll my eyes, ergh bitch please!

Anyway moving on from that outburst. Breath Bex, breath!

These bad boys are said to 'remove pimples, blackheads, impurities, and excess oil in just minutes' so when you peel the mask off, it's pulling those pore nasties out! Sounds brilliant.

Now to the test! This product is a smooth, thick texture that's quite tacky. Oh and it's black. It looks like your painting your face with tar.

Scary picture aside, this stuff is easy to apply and you leave it on for 10 minutes. It doesn't set like a clay mask in terms of that tight, crumbly feel but does set so the product isn't wet anymore.

Now on to the peeling. I'm not going to lie, this was so painful! Ok slightly dramatic but it does pull the skin and grabs every little hair including the baby fuzz. Felt like I was waxing my face! Ouch.

However this does not distract from how awesome my skin felt after. You could see that this pulled some impurities from my pores which were left in the peel. I didn't photograph this as it wasn't pretty. Lol. If you've ever used biore nose/face strips you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Now let's talk about my skin. It felt soooo smooth, the dead skin had been pulled off with the peel and I have flakey patches on my t-zone and cheeks which are now lovely and soft :D *happy dance*

Overall the Blackhead Killer is a great mask. It pulls out the nasties with the added bonus of leaving your skin fresh and smooth. I made sure to tone and moisturise after I removed my pact so that my pores could close up.

Really happy I tried these and its a great product to add to my skincare routine, one I will be using them again.

These little bad boys are only £14.95 for 5 pacts. Well worth it in my opinion. At less than £3 each, they are great to use once a week or even once a month depending on your skin with the added bonus of including a 100% money back guarantee if you're not satisfied! :D

Go check out stylelux and give the Blackhead Killer a try :)

Let me know what you think if you've tried them!

Much Love,

Burberry Kisses

Hey beauts,

Hope you all had a good weekend! I went shopping but totally didn't get what I went for! Bex you made a list for a reason! *sigh*

Anyway I'm sidetracking. For those of you on Twitter. You may have seen the very ingenious campaign by Burberry to spread the word about their new lipsticks.

The #Burberrykisses concept basically meant you could send 5 people of your choice a Burberry Kiss sample, they choose out of 4 shades, then they recommend 5 people, who recommend 5 more. On and on, so on and so forth.

Brilliant idea from a high end brand. Not only does it get people talking about the lippies but it also gave beauty bloggers a great incentive to post about them, thus boosting interest come release day.

I was tweeted by the lovely rebeccamarie.co.uk and was super excited to choose my colour! :D

I chose sepia no:85 which I thought was a pinky, mauve shade but comes across more brown to me (which is so strange as in Kristina's review here http://goo.gl/s8tfNG, it looks way more pink!) it does have pink undertones however the brown was more dominate once applied.

Its a gorgeous satin finish which I love and glides on so smoothly, you don't even feel like you're wearing it plus these beauties are enriched with the brands signature ingredients of tea, lavender and rosehip which help keep your lips hydrated. The bonus of this is, you don't really need a lip liner unless it's to add extra longevity. Winner :D

Burberry claim these last up to 6 hours, now I did get a good 3 before I needed to touch up, however I had eaten a meal so I automatically re-apply due to wiping my mouth with a napkin (don't you feel happy now I shared my hygiene routine haha)

(by the way are my lip pictures ok or weird? Would hand swatches only, be preferred?)

Overall a really nice lipstick, very cool packaging with the sleek Burberry design on the tube and embossed into the lipstick. It's little things like this, that makes a product feel more luxurious.

These little tubes of loveliness cost £25 (pricey but so nice) and come in 28 shades. Go check them out here https://uk.burberry.com/burberry-kisses :)

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? What do think?

Much Love,

Iconic Hollywood Glossybox

Hi guys,

It's Glossybox time!! I love this months box! Beauty boxes are on fire lately or I'm more open to trying new things but either way I'm a happy girl :D

The theme as the title suggests is the Iconic Hollywood Edition. As soon as I saw the box I fell in love :)

How beautiful! The gorgeous Marilyn Monroe takes centre stage on this months box and the lid has the above quote by Elizaberh Taylor :D

Loving the goodies this month!

Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls £6

These smell amazing! As soon as I opened the lid , I was hit with the scent of fig and pink cedar (erm it just smelt fruity to me haha)
These give a subtle shimmer which as long as you pat dry adds a sheen to the skin.

Astral Original Face & Body Moisturiser £3.89

This pretty much does what it says on the tin or tub.
I use the Nivea version but it's always nice to try new products to hydrate my skin especially if it helps my flakey/dry patches!

Color Club Polish £4.10

Never heard of this brand but I like that they went nude. Mostly I use bright or neon shades but sometimes the natural look is nice.
Most of the Hollywood greats wore subtle nails and this one in shade Barely There is a perfect choice :)

POP Beauty Kajel Eyeliner £6.50

Nice creamy formula and you get a smudge sponge on the other end to create the perfect smokey eye. I actually rocked this with a purple/silver look. Looked pretty good if I do say so myself ;)
This product also ties in the theme, as you can create the famous cat eye that iconic starlets wore.
Glad I got to try this brand as it's good and really affordable.

Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil £10

Finally you get this beautiful lippie called Kiss. Appropriate as its a lip product. Lol.
Creamy, smooth formula with a matte finish. It's the perfect Marilyn shade.
More on the orange side in person. Kinda like a hybrid version of the Lime Crime one in my post on red lips (http://goo.gl/e2lzFS) but a better formula for me :)

That's a lil kiss from me! Hehe

Soo that's my April Glossybox. Love what I got and I've tried some new brands which is really what a beauty box is all about.

Go check out Glossybox http://goo.gl/jwqE9C for only £10 plus P&P it's an affordable way to try new things and it's nice to get presents delivered each month ;)

Much Love,

Choose Beautiful with Dove

Hi guys,

I've always loved the Dove brand. The body wash is a staple in my shower and I use the hand wash religiously (in a normal way, not an obsessive, I must clean my hands all the time way lol)

The formula is brilliant. I'm sensitive and this one is perfect for me. You can work it into a foamy lather and wash your cares away, well probably sweat but that doesn't sound as good ;)

I love how affordable they are and the range of scents you can get and I always add a Dove set to my birthday and Christmas list! Yes I still have a list at 27! What can I say I'm a child at heart! Haha.

I realise I have two the same here but my orange one ran out :(

Knowing that these products add moisture and repair your skin is just an added bonus.

Then they launched the new #choosebeautiful campaign and my love for this brand has grown enormously which as I'm pretty much loyal to their products, says a lot!

They recently showed a clip at different department stores in various countries and under each door were the words beautiful or average. Which door do you walk through? Most of the women chose average. Not surprising as we tend to downplay our own opinions of ourselves.

However what we need to take from this clever marketing campaign is that regardless of age, if you're gay or straight, fat or thin, have a disability or wear glasses, we are all beautiful.

We are beautiful for our differences, our similarities and for the strengths and weaknesses we all bring to the world. Each aspect makes us who we are as people.

Yes this is made to drive up sales and good on Dove for that. Just like the fast food chain advertising about free range hens and British beef is shown, so you buy more microwaved burgers. It's all about getting noticed and with Dove, I still love the products even without the self esteem boost.

My point is, it's so easy to focus on the negative, I'm so guilty of this especially lately but we need to take a moment and remember the good things about ourselves!

We need to #choosebeautiful

Much Love,

Royal Birchbox

Hi guys,

I'm back with the royally good April Birchbox. lol. This month is all about the soon to arrive royal baby and it was a surprise on what colour box you would get. Pink or blue!

I got the blue box, which having just found out my brother is expecting a little boy, I thought was fate ;)

I love this months box. The design is beautiful with the cute royal doves and after a few lacklustre boxes this one has brought back my beauty box excitement :)

Now for my goodies this month!

Laura Mercier Eye Pencil £17.50

Last month you got to choose a product by this brand from a primer, mascara and eyeliner.
I chose the liner as I have far too many opened mascaras drying up as I type and already own the primer (see post here http://goo.gl/7E584R)
This is a gorgeous liner in a beautiful dark purple. The card said black violet but it's more on the purple side than black. I love it, I'm really into purple smokey eyes and this will be great as a bottom lash liner or a base to make my shadows pop :D

Lola Barcelona nail polish £7.50

This is a Birchbox exclusive and its a gorgeous coral shade called Rambla.
I'm in love with this colour. It's so fun and bright and fits in perfectly for the summer months.
I'm all about the bright lips and funky nail colours. Rock those bad boys! :D

Percy & Reed London hair oil £14

This actually has the biggest name ever! Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil
Geez Louise that's a mouthful but I love that this isn't a greasy formula, think more serum than oil. I also love that one of the celebrity hairdressers who designed this range has the same last name (Percival) as me! :D what can I say small things amuse me. Haha

Pommade Divine balm £19.80

This is a 97% natural balm that has multiple uses. Apply on problem areas so this beaut can get repairing and nourishing.
Not sold on the smell at all but nice texture. Think ointment meets gel meets moisturiser and you understand how this sinks into the skin.
I'll be testing this on my hands as I suffer from eczema.

Liz Earle Beauty Co cleanse & polish + Muslin cloth £14

This was really cute and came all wrapped up like a present :)

Love that the tube was sealed with foil. This product will clean and exfoliate the dead skin off your face. Rub the cleanser into dry skin then buff off with the muslin cloth provided!
Instant bright, clean face! Yey!

Befine warming clay mask £17

This was a bonus gift and I'm a sucker for a good clay mask. I spent £45 on the Glamglow supermud so you know I'm serious about my pamper time. Lol
This one is full of healthy food goodness, like pomegranate to help detox the skin. Happy days!

So that's this months Birchbox. I thought it was a nice mix of products with a lovely theme and design.

Want your own box? Check it out here birchbox.co.uk and get your own goodies delivered straight to your door for only £10 plus p&p. However if you use the code: SHIPAPRIL you get free shipping :D

Fighting Myself

Hey guys,

I wanted to write this post as lately I've been feeling really defeated! I've had no confidence in myself, my diet and even this blog.

I suffer from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Basically PMT on steroids. So whilst the average woman feels rubbish a few days before her period. I have a few weeks of feeling so crap I want to hide away in a dark room and forget about life.

The hormones in my body really mess with my head. I can get really angry for no reason or super tearful (it's not pretty) and the constant second guessing everything wears me out and I just shut down! Thank God I drafted my posts!

Then come the 'what's the point?' thoughts. Even writing this I'm annoyed at myself but it's like I'm watching myself act and feel this way with no way of snapping out of it.

Will losing weight really change anything? Will writing my opinion on the latest lippie even be noticed? Why bother anyway? I mean I'm just setting myself up for failure and rejection. Aren't I?

But it hit me today (I'm coming off my downer it seems) that I love my little blog, yes I got bogged down with numbers whilst under my hormone induced rage (this coincided with getting over 50 unfollowers in one weekend alone) but I blog for me!

This little piece of the net is for my shiz! Be that my favourite eyeshadow to how much weight I lost this month. If people read my words then thank you! But even if it's just my mother, that's fine too!

I also realised that I'm scared of the changes that will happen as I lose the weight. But these are changes with me, not the world around me.

Yes it's scary to put yourself out there with the chance of failure. It's easier to stuff yourself with junk and stick to the familiar.

But I want and deserve more than feeling like I'm 70 with a bad hip. I may not turn into a party animal once I hit goal but the choice will be mine.

Instead of finding excuse not to go out like I do now, I can say 'you know what I will' I want to meet new people, travel and apply for that dream job and I need the confidence that weight loss will give me.

I found this poem and it really resonated with me.

I'm not quitting my diet, I'm not quitting my blog but most of all, I'm not quitting me!

Thanks for reading,

Much Love,

Wonder Lips

Hi guys,

I wanted to share my new favourite lip glosses right now and the liners I pair them with.

Everyone has heard of the wonder brand Make Up Revolution. They recently celebrated their 1st birthday and the year saw them release some amazing products.

One of these products that I'm in love with are the Salvation Intense Lacquers. I have the shades Didn't I tell you which is a gorgeous pink and Rebel a berry plum colour.

The glosses are gorgeous on the lips, colour payoff is great both with and without a lip liner and it's not a sticky texture which I love!

I paired these with some MAC liners. A pink shade called hip'n'happy (sooo pretty) and a plum one called Current.

How beautiful do they look?! Whilst the darker shade isn't a 'spring' shade, I still think it's lovely to wear especially with a brown smokey eye.

I just had to share these fabulous lip combos. The liners are on the pricey side at £12.50 each, they are great, however cheaper brands do have similar, if not the same colours.

Now the glosses are only £3!! They have a range of colours from nude to red to purple. The formula is great, the colours lovely and they last really well :)

If you fancy grabbing these lil lip beauties then check them out and whilst you're there sneak a peak at the eye shadow palettes!  :D

Collection Love

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a lovely Easter! Did you eat lots of choccy eggs? I was good :D quite proud of myself! Lol

Anyway today I wanted to share my new love right now. It's by Collection Cosmetics, hence the title and its part of their spring line 'Field Day' very cute.

I've been a fan of this brand since I was 8 and my mum let me have her eyeshadow set. Wow that's nearly 20 years ago! How old to I feel now! Quick pass the anti wrinkle cream! Stat! Hehe

I bought the eye shadow pencil Summer Meadow (field day, meadow, you get where they went with this) ;)
This is a beautiful pearlescent pale green. Perfect for spring and looks fabulous on the lid.

This little beauty only cost £3.19. It's available in most supermarkets that stock the brand, not to mention Boots, Superdrug and other beauty retailers.

It glides on the lid smoothly without pulling and whilst it is pigmented, you can build up the colour intensity. You do need to blend quickly though, as this sets fast.

Lasts all day with minimal fade in the crease (I have oily/hooded lids) nothing to cry about plus you only see my crease when I shut my eyes. Lol

It's just so gorgeous. I'm loving eye pencils right now. As bases they are great to make powder shadows pop and by themselves, the colours have their own beauty.

What do you think of the field day collection? Are you a fan of eye pencils?

Much Love,

Surviving Easter!

Hi guys,

Pretty self explanatory what today's post entails. How I'm surviving the chocolate tsunami that is imminent!

I have four nieces and nephews and all will be arriving, ready to find all the delicious goodies the Easter Bunny left. Not to mention my brother who's autistic loves his choccy eggs.

Sooo I don't really want to backtrack this weekend. I've been feeling blah enough this week, I'm not adding a sugar coma with a dose of guilt on the side to it.

That being said. We are all humans. We enjoy the naughty foods and the good. Having the odd treat isn't a bad thing and in no way am I saying 'you mustn't eat any chocolate!'

Let's be realistic folks, chocolate tastes nice and Easter is the perfect occasion to overindulge. Unfortunately I am unable to stop at a small piece or even bar. Once the yummy smooth taste of Cadburys or Galaxy passes my lips I become the chocolate version of the Cookie Monster! FYI it's not pretty haha.

So I thought I'd share a few things I'm trying this year to have a treat but not fall into that vat of Nutella (if you read this post http://goo.gl/u046WX you'll know what I mean).

Nakd bars: These beautiful bars of yumminess are made using natural ingredients. Mostly fruit and nuts :) I loovvveeee the Choc Orange flavour *wipes off drool* these are available at most health stores and supermarkets.

Banana Bites: grab a banana either slice in half or chop into think chunks. Spread the nut butter of your choice on top (almond all the way) and enjoy!

No bake healthy brownies: These are from Danni's site http://goo.gl/K4QXem and are soooo yummy! The topping is blended banana and cocao powder but gives the illusion of fudgey gooeyness! Want tasty, healthier recipes? Follow her  hungryhealthyhappy blog!

Dark 80% chocolate: If the chocolate monster becomes too loud, a few pieces of dark choc does the trick. The higher the percentage the better. Just beware of the bitterness.

Fruits: Diced fruit is another great way to make the sweet tooth happy. At least it's a natural sugar and does the body good. You can even dip them into some melted dark choc :) yum

These are some of the things I'm trying instead of reaching for an Easter egg. Yes the calories may not be much different but these treats are better for my body and they don't trigger my inner greedy girl like milk chocolate does.

Overall I have to ask myself which I want more. The chocolate egg that's gone and forgotten after 5 minutes or to be rocking a gorgeous dress in summer?

Have a fabulous Easter guys! Whether you eat 10 eggs or 10 grapes! Enjoy yourself :)

Much Love,

Bex x

Read, Rest and Relax

Hey guys,

How we all doing?? After my recent lil moment (see previous post) I thought this is a perfect oppourtunity to share one of my favourite ways to shake away my cares.

I don't know about you but life is so fast paced nowadays with 24 hour supermarkets, restaurants readily available and don't get me started on social media!

The easy access to high tech phones with the latest bells and whistles from gaming and banking to apps that boil the kettle (how does that work??)
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to name some, are all there at our fingertips.

We humans are nosy creatures, so the lure of seeing how our friends are 'doing' is great, not to mention celebrities that use social media to engage and promote.

But do ever get those days where you turn off your phone, unplug the TV and curl up in the sofa with a magazine. A real one, not an app!

You've had a busy day at school/work/watching the kids and come home make sure everyone's fed and watered including yourself then you sit down with that much needed drink of choice (future reference I'm a coffee girl) and realise you didn't buy your magazine!

The thought of putting your poor feet back into your shoes makes you cry, you seriously just wanted half an hour of you time to chill, read and enjoy a soothing beverage.

Now imagine if you'd ordered your favourite reading material to be delivered? No waiting in cues at Asda, no struggling to park outside the local shops. You just come home and see that beautiful package waiting (erm your magazine people) Utter bliss!

uniquemagazines offer such a service. You can order one magazine or subscribe! Bonus you save more, the longer you subscribe. Winner!

Let uniquemagazines.co.uk take away the stress of the day by delivering you the magazines, you want to read.

I personally love reading real pages, holding a book or mag gives me something an iPhone or kindle never will. I love turning each page and hearing that crisp sound, smelling that paper smell and creating a wish list of all the pretty things I see!

I get my fitness magazines delivered as they are quite pricy so knowing I'm saving each month makes the frugle girl in me happy, plus I can buy more beauty stuff! Always thinking ;D

I love the selection uniquemagazines offers. With over 3000 magazines from fitness to lifestyle, fishing to home & garden and many more.

I'd never heard of Your Fitness* before and I'm glad I got to read it. Not only does it motivate you, I've also found some new recipes to try as they included a free pull out by Davina McCall, who lets be honest looks amazing! Another mag to add to my collection :D

Do you prefer to hold a real magazine?

What you waiting for? Save time and money, get the latest Cosmo or Men's Health delivered straight to your door and check out uniquemagazines :)

Addiction or excuse?

Hi guys,

So another month has gone by, I got weighed on Monday, thinking it was the last day of March. Oh to actually check the calendar first!

I lost 7lb this month! Whilst that's a fab amount, I had set a goal of over 8lb. So so close!

I'm finding my motivation is waning lately and that scares me. It's so easy to fall off the wagon, hell sometimes I want to jump, straight into a vat of Nutella. Hmm gross but tasty ;p

They say that sugar hits the same addictive triggers in the brain as class A drugs. The difference being that I can never get away from food, regardless of focus, motivation or inspiration. I've got to eat to survive, thus thrusting my urges into overdrive.

I remember having a cry with my mum. I was fed up and wanted to eat whatever I wanted. Food is like my friend, it's there when I'm sad, bored, happy. It joins me at the cinema and also out shopping. It's a constant mental presence I'm always thinking about. Whilst eating breakfast, I'm buying my lunch and planning my dinner.

You know what my mum said. Why would a friend be slowly killing you? Why would a friend want you to hide away in your room? Cancelling social events because you're clothes don't fit?

It's a wake up call. Is wanting that chocolate bar so bad I'll jeopardise my weightloss worth it?

Is food an addiction or am I making excuses to justify eating crap?

I need to focus on what good food provides my body and step away from the comfort eating mentality.

Food isn't my friend, it's not a sentient being taking away my loneliness. It's just food and I'm going to fight this mental craving with everything I have!

I'm ready to have the body I want and the life I want to lead!

Thanks for reading,

Much Love,

Bex x
