Screw the scales!

Hi guys,

Soo I got weighed today after another 4 weeks and I've lost 5lbs.

Realistically that's a little over a pound a week which is good for a steady, healthy loss.

Mentally however, I was ready to throw in the towel and spend my wages on McDonalds and cake!

I didn't!! I guess because I have a whole bloody person to lose, I expected a bigger loss in my second month. I know it'll get smaller as I go along this journey but initially I wanted a bigger 'lost' number to be staring back at me.

Then I remembered reading this poem/speech:

One Pound of Fat

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should.
I am ONE POUND OF FAT, and I am the happiest pound of FAT that you would ever want to meet!

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me! After all, I am only ONE POUND OF FAT. Just ONE POUND. Everyone wants to lose 3 or 5 or 15 pounds, but never ONLY one.

So, I just stick around and happily keep you. Then I am free to add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice...

That is, until I have grown to 10, 20 or even 30 pounds in weight...

YES... it is fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT... left to do just as I please.

So, when you weigh in, go ahead... just keep on saying, "Oh I only lost one pound." (As if that is so terrible.) For you see, if you do this, you will encourage others to hang around me because they will think that I am not worth losing.

And I LOVE being around you... your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips, and every other part of you. HAPPY DAYS! After all, I am ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

No idea who wrote this (thanks) but it's so true. I was ready to give in after all my hard work because I lost the equivalent of a pound a week. Not happening!

It's easy to give in to negative thoughts and get fatter. Gaining was the easy part but saying 'no, I'm worth it and will stay on track' is the best achievement ever!

I came home from the chemist (I weigh in at Boots on the electronic scales as you get a ticket) and I made my lunch. Mushroom and goats cheese omelette with a spinach salad.

Tasted delicious and was really filling. I've now whipped up a yummy smoothie and I'm taking my fur babies out for a long walk.

Remember the twists and turns throughout this journey will eventually lead to the place you want to go!

On that cheesy note *im rolling my own eyes here* I'm off to get my mind in gear and my butt moving.

Have a fab week guys!

Much Love,

Bex x

  1. Good luck with your journey, it sounds like you're doing really well and you're really motivated to keep going :) The omelette looks delicious as well, I love goats cheese and mushrooms so I'm definitely going to give this a try! xx

    1. Thanks hun. Means a lot. I don't want to feel embarrassed anymore so regardless of how much I lose, I'm happy it's going down not up!
The goats cheese adds that extra something to the omelette! So delicious :p x

  2. I love that 'one pound of fat' thing, that's great to motivate people. Well done on losing your 5lbs :-)

    1. Thanks sweets. It's a great way to put it into perspective. Every little pound off is a step in the right direction :) x
